Direct-acting electromagnetic brakes provide instant and effective braking, which is critical for a wide range of applications. When voltage is applied to the electromagnetic coil of the brake, a magnetic field is created that attracts the brake pad to the brake disc or drum, providing an instant stop. When the voltage is turned off, the spring returns the pad to its original position, releasing the brake.
